Protect Your Packaging: Don’t Let Competitors Sip Your Tea or Swipe Your Skincare Style

In the crowded world of tea and skincare, product packaging isn’t just a box or a bottle—it’s the first impression, your brand’s handshake with potential customers.

But here’s a fun fact: while you’re busy choosing that perfect shade of green for your matcha tea box, someone else might be ready to “borrow” your idea. You know, because it’s such a compliment when another company decides your design is good enough to steal.

Take the case of T2 Tea, a popular Australian brand known for its bold, colorful packaging. Imagine their surprise when a competitor’s product popped up on shelves looking eerily similar. Did the competitor suddenly develop a love for bright orange? Probably not. It’s more likely they realized that eye-catching packaging is half the battle won in attracting customers. T2 didn’t take it lightly—they knew their packaging was a key part of their brand identity, and they weren’t about to let someone ride their creative coattails for free.

The skincare industry isn’t immune either. Remember when that minimalistic, pastel-colored packaging became all the rage? Suddenly, every other brand was sporting a similar look, hoping to cash in on the same chic, “less is more” aesthetic. But for the originals, like Glossier, that design wasn’t just a pretty face—it was a carefully crafted element of their brand. And yes, they made sure it was copyrighted.

So, unless you enjoy seeing your hard work on someone else’s product, it’s time to get serious about copyrighting your packaging. Because in this dog-eat-dog world, the last thing you want is to hand your competitors a free pass to your brand’s identity.
